Age 22. 49 Oak Street, Uxbridge, MA. Born on 9/28/1920, in Roxbury (Boston), MA. Died of carbon monoxide poisoning (death certificate). Magneto assembler, Whitin Machine Works, Whitinsville (Northbridge), MA. Was present in a party of six with John Bagley, age 21, Albert Belanger, age 29, and Joseph Boratyn, age 22, all of Whitinsville, and Mr. and Mrs. James and Mary J. Duggan, ages 24 and 26 respectively, of Waltham, MA. Mr. Belanger (Born 11/09/1913. Died 5/27/1974, age 60. Last residence Whitinsville) and Mr. Duggan (Born 9/16/1918. Died 1/10/2009, age 90. Last residence Laguna Niguel, CA) were the lone party survivors. All four men were employed (or formerly so) at the above Whitin Machine Works. Had left his home earlier on Saturday for Boston by car with Mr. Boratyn. Group had attended the afternoon B.C. Eagles / Holy Cross Crusaders football game at Fenway Park. "When young Trainor failed to return to his home Sunday morning, his parents became worried. It was not until later in the day they learned of the catastrophe..." (Uxbridge Times, 12/04/1942). His father went to Boston on Sunday afternoon and located the family automobile parked in the Motor Mart garage at nearby Park Square. Moved from Roxbury to rural Uxbridge with his family at age one. Was a graduate of Uxbridge High School in 1938. "He was a former football and basketball player for the Uxbridge High School..." (The Evening Gazette, Worcester, MA, 11/30/1942). Served as the drum major of his high school band. Was a graduate of Worcester Trade School in 1940. Enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps the past July, was an inactive aviation Cadet. His home address above was described in the 11/30/1942 Boston Evening Globe as, "...near the Whitinsville-Uxbridge line..." Was the lone victim from the Blackstone Valley community of Uxbridge. Was single. Large physique (WWII draft registration, February '42: 6' 3," 220 lbs.). Parents Mr. and Mrs. William V., Sr., and Catherine (Simpson) Trainor, same address. Burial at Saint Mary's Parish Cemetery, Uxbridge. Middle name Vincent.
