Was present in a mixed-gender foursome with coworker John E. Murphy, age 25, dead, and Mr. and Mrs. Richard "Dick" Williams, age 26 (Born 7/11/1916. Died 4/08/1993, age 76. Last residence Savannah, GA), injured, and his wife Ethel Mae, age 26, dead, all of Framingham, MA. Her body was located on Sunday at Northern Mortuary in Boston. "Burton McDevitt, her brother, made the identification by her Hudson High School, class of 1941, class ring" (Worcester Telegram, Worcester, MA, 11/30/1942). Also: "She was a talented soloist and appeared in many musicals and entertainments." "...The whole story, which was scandalous then, is that she was at the Grove with a married man...Of course, that wasn't mentioned" (David Bonazzoli, Hudson historian, December 2009). A second cousin of Mr. Murphy, Nancy Anderson Ahern, revealed of the latter (in 2021): "His...wife...had already walked out on her husband and baby girl. This was his first date since his 'wife' abandoned them." Was single. Attended Northampton Business College, Northampton, MA. Was a lifelong Hudson resident and lone victim from the quiet Middlesex County community. The above tool business (later the largest producer of broaching machines in the U.S.) was still operating in Hudson into the 21st century as a division of Pioneer Broach Co., of Los Angeles, CA. Parents Mr. and Mrs. James J. and Myra A. (Day) McDevitt, same address. Burial at Pleasant Street Cemetery, Berlin, MA. A modest rough flat stone, bearing only her name and years of birth and death, rests apart from a nearby family lot (where her mother would later be interred upon her 1957 death). Middle name Gertrude.
