At the club in a mixed-gender foursome with her fiancé Charles Hirtle, age 26, of Belmont, MA, also Robert Derbyshire, age 23, of Waltham, MA, and the latter's companion, Miss Marjorie Thompson, age 22, of Austin, MN (lodging in Belmont). All died except Miss Thompson (Born 5/07/1920. Died as Marjorie T. Hentschel on 11/01/2001, age 81. Last residence Satellite Beach, FL), who owed her life, "...to the fact that she had left her party to go to the women's room" (Waltham News-Tribune, 11/30/1942). Remains were transported to Northern Mortuary in Boston. Was raised in Allston. Was a graduate of Brighton High School, Boston, 1937. Surname was misspelled "Lindgran" (with an "a" on the second syllable) on the final official November 1943 Boston Committee on Public Safety master list of casualties (correct spelling on her death certificate). Was the youngest of ten Grove victims from the Hub "neighborhood" of Allston (also Mr. Harold James Ford and his wife Doris, ages 34 and 39, Miss Ethel Gartland, age 27, Mr. and Mrs. William and Eva Healy, ages 46 and 41, Mr. and Mrs. James, Jr., and Margaret McFarlin, ages 55 and 52, Mrs. Constance "Connie" Sheridan, age 28, and club waiter Harold Snyderman, age 32). One of 14 engaged female patron casualties (also 116 single, 93 married, and 4 divorced women guests died, a total 227 female customers lost out of 234 women killed overall). Parents Mr. and Mrs. Lauri J. and Anna M. (Johansson) Lindgren, same address. Joint funeral services with Mr. Hirtle held the following Wednesday morning in Cambridge, MA. Burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Brighton (Boston), MA. Was one of three Grove victims interred at Evergreen Cemetery (also married patrons Mr. and Mrs. Paul, Jr., and Ruth Carbone, both age 33). Middle name Maria.
