"Wyner's Used Cars"), in Somerville. Reported by the 12/01/1942 Boston Post as connected to a party of eight with his expecting wife Pauline "Polly," age 24, an older brother Sica "Sam," age 28, of Somerville, also Mr. and Mrs. Israel "Pete" and Jeanne "Jennie" Frutman, ages 40 and 37 respectively, Lieut. and Mrs. Bernard N. "Bucky" and Dorothy Levin, ages 30 and 24, and Miss Ruth Karmelin, age 22, the latter five all of Brookline, MA. Mr. Frutman (Born 4/09/1902. Died 9/13/1982, age 80. Last residence Hollywood, FL) and Lieut. Levin (Born 1/13/1912. Died 6/14/1982, age 70. Last residence Rochester, NY) were the lone two party survivors when they stepped outside the club before the blaze. His brother and Miss Karmelin were to marry on December 13. "...Max Wyner...died a few hours after his arrival at Boston City Hospital..." (The Boston Post, 12/01/1942). Lieut. Levin testified at the spring 1943 Grove manslaughter trials that the gathering consisted of only five, with four dead (none named). Tall frame (WWII draft registration, October '40: 6' 1," 182 lbs.). With his brother Max were the only brothers to perish in the blaze besides the Fitzgeralds of Wilmington, MA, who lost four male siblings (a total of seven different pairs of sisters and nine mixed-gender sibling sets also died). The above automotive sales business launched in 1931 was operated by the same family into the 1990s, later specialized in pre-owned trucks. Parents Mrs. Annie (Glazer) and the late Mr. Hyman Wyner.
