Age 56. 15 Forest Avenue, Ansonia, CT. Born 10/26/1886, Naugatuck, CT. Died of carbon monoxide poisoning (death certificate). Housewife (death certificate). At the club with her adult son Raymond, age 34, same Connecticut address (lodging in Cambridge, MA), and his companion, Miss Catherine L. "Kay" Murphy, age 23, of Dorchester (Boston), MA, both dead. Trio had attended the big afternoon B.C./Holy Cross collegiate football contest at Fenway Park. "Sullivan...invited his mother to Boston for the week end to see 'Bub' Natowich of Ansonia, a friend, play his last game for Holy Cross" (Hartford Courant, Hartford, CT, 11/29/1942). Victim son was to graduate from M.I.T. in February. Husband George F. (Born 8/20/1882. Died 2/16/1966, age 83), married in 1906, was not present. "When nothing definite had been learned about his wife at noon today [Sunday], he, a daughter, Margaret, and another son...left for Boston" (Hartford Courant, 11/29/1942). In addition to her late son was survived by adult children George, Jr., age 33, William, age 25, Margaret, age 22, and Marion, age 21, and minors Daniel, age 18, and Louise, age 15. Was the lone Grove-victim parent of more than five offspring (four surviving adults and two teens, plus her above deceased adult son). Was the second-oldest female patron casualty, at 56 years, 1 month (after victim Mrs. Pauline Rifkin, 4½ months older). With her son and his companion were three of 125 fire deaths (more than one in every four) known to have witnessed the stunning season-ending football game at Fenway Park in Boston (likely others unreported). Middle initial was misrecorded as "N." on the final official November 1943 Boston Committee on Public Safety master list of casualties. Late parents Mr. and Mrs. John and Ann E. (Garland) Kelly. Burial with her victim son at Mount St. Peter Cemetery, Derby, CT. With her son were two of five Grove casualties (of 490 total) interred in the Nutmeg State (also Mr. and Mrs. Robert and Eleanor Coleman, both age 26, and Miss Ruth Reid, age 28, all patrons). Middle name Veronica.
