Age 24. 30 Woodford Street, Dorchester (Boston), MA. Born 3/31/1918, in Boston. Died 11/29/1942 (Sunday), at 11:50 p.m., Boston City Hospital, carbon monoxide poisoning and burns (death certificate). Occupation: "at home" (death certificate). Her husband Raymond F., age 31 (Born 1/19/1911. Remarried in 1949. Died 12/25/1996, age 85. Last residence Carver, MA), stayed home to care for an infant son, Charles, age 1 (born on 11/26/1941). Was in a main dining room group of 15 known as the "Allston-Brighton Sewing Circle" party, gathered to celebrate the 29th wedding anniversary of her parents Mr. and Mrs. John J. and Alice C. (Greene) Murray, ages 52 and 48 respectively, same address, also the 5th wedding anniversary of an older sister Mrs. Mildred Whitmarsh, age 28, and her husband William, age 32, of Dorchester, above four all dead. Lone group survivor, Frederick Harrington, age 52 (Born 9/21/1890. Died 4/21/1972, age 81. Last residence Dorchester), of Brighton (Boston), MA, a former firefighter, escaped uninjured (his wife Catherine "Vernie," age 51, did not attend). Married on 5/25/1941 [sic], in Boston. Reported decades later by a family descendant that she was brought out alive to the sidewalk by her father, where he then collapsed and died (www.findagrave.com). Survived by a younger brother, Charles Murray, U.S. Army, age 21 (a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne, not present), latter the only immediate family member not killed in the disaster (was away serving). With her sister Mildred was one of seven female sibling pairs lost in the blaze, and the lone Grove casualties (of 490) to be joined in death by both parents (victims Frederick Sharby, Jr., age 19, and Raymond Sullivan, age 34, died with one parent each in separate parties). Burial with her parents and victim sister at St. Mary's Cemetery, Scituate, MA. Middle name Loretta.
