(1894 - 1942)

Age 48. 69 Academy Avenue, East Weymouth (Weymouth), MA. Born 9/25/1894, in Boston. Died on 11/30/1942 (Monday), of burns, at Cambridge Hospital, Cambridge, MA (death certificate). Occupation: "at home" (death certificate). Was known as "Peg." In a main dining room party of 14 hosted by Mr. Ernest Bizzozero, dead, and his wife Marion, survived, both age 40, nine perished. The group witnessed the big afternoon B.C./Holy Cross football game at Fenway Park, then attended an evening post-game cocktail party at the Quincy, MA, home of Mr. and Mrs. Bizzozero, before reuniting at the Grove. Were seated at tables combined together to make one large table to the right of the rolling wooden dance floor. Was reported to have, "...escaped, but was so severely burned that she died some hours later at the Cambridge City Hospital..." (Weymouth Gazette, Weymouth, MA, 12/03/1942). Was raised by a widowed maternal grandmother in Dorchester (Boston), MA. Was a private secretary at the time of her marriage on 11/25/1920 (marriage certificate). With her husband had observed their 22nd wedding anniversary the past Wednesday. One of 81 Grove fire victims (of 490 total) recorded on their death certificates as having expired after the actual fire date of November 28 (plus club singer Ethel Bauer, age 32, who died on 12/01/1942, but was misrecorded as passing on "November 28"). With her husband were two of four Grove casualties from the south shore town of Weymouth (also married patrons Mr. and Mrs. John and Alice Ducey, ages 32 and 30 respectively). Late parents Mr. and Mrs. John J. and Amelia O. (Glavin) Brickley. Both parents died in 1901 of tuberculosis. Burial with her husband at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Roslindale (Boston), MA. With Mr. Carroll were two of 30 Grove victims interred at the connected Mount (or "Old") Calvary Cemetery (8 burials) and its adjoining New Calvary Cemetery, Mattapan (Boston), MA (22 burials), more than at any other single site.
