Age 22. 261 Washington Street, Quincy, MA. Born on 6/10/1920, in Quincy. Died of burns (death certificate). Typist, Bethlehem Steel Co., Fore River Shipyard, Quincy. Attended the club in a mixed-gender foursome with her younger sister and coworker Irma, age 19, same address, also Joseph Clancy, age 24, of Quincy, and Charles Duhamel, age 27, of Millis, MA (but lodging since February in Quincy), all dead. "The sisters were graduated from...Quincy High School. They had been employed at the Fore River Shipyard as stenographers where the young men were also employed" (The Boston Globe, 12/01/1942). "Today [Monday] Chief Avery [Quincy Police Chief John J. Avery] will return to Boston to make a round of morgues and hospitals in an attempt to identify Miss Louise Wilding...reported as missing in the fire. Her sister...was listed among the dead" (Quincy Patriot Ledger, 11/30/1942). Also: "The two sisters are sisters of Chief Avery's son-in-law..." Her remains were located at Northern Mortuary in Boston on Monday. Was single. With her teen sister were lifelong residents of Quincy. With her sister and their companions were four of eleven Grove victims employed at the above shipyard (also Arnold Isaacson, age 22, Donald MacMillan, age 30, Louis "Barry" Nash, age 29, Carl Nelson, age 19, Henry Rivoire, age 19, John Steensen, age 29, and Miss J. Louise Sullivan, age 27, all patrons). Girls were one of seven all-female sibling pairs lost in the blaze (also Misses Hannah and Winifred O'Dea, ages 28 age 24, Misses Rose and Sally Summer, ages 35 and 33, all single; plus Mrs. Sadie Levin and Mrs. Adelaide "Addie" Wasserman, ages 38 and 32, Mrs. Josephine Powell and Mrs. Helen Lillian Cafarella, ages 29 and 26, Mrs. Ethel Slate and Mrs. Jeanette "Jennie" Zall, ages 48 and 35, and Mrs. Mildred Whitmarsh and Mrs. Margaret Lewis, ages 28 and 24, all married). Parents Mr. and Mrs. Ernest M. and Mary A. (Davis) Wilding, same address. Burial with her victim sister at Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy. Middle name Gertrude.
