Age 30. 3 Wall Street, Wellesley, MA. Born 11/29/1911, in Framingham, MA. Died of carbon monoxide poisoning (death certificate). Housewife (death certificate). In a main dining room mixed party of four observing her 31st birthday (next day) with husband Edgar F., age 33 (Born 8/17/1909. Died 3/10/1993, age 83. Last residence Dover, MA), seriously injured, and Mr. and Mrs. John, age 38, dead, and Irene Cushing, age 32 (Born 10/22/1910. Died as Irene M. Thomas on 12/30/1991, age 81), badly injured, of Hampton, NH. Husband was an electrical engineer at J. J. Costello Co., of Boston, known generally as "Ed." "Mrs. Hubert, who sustained no burns but probably died of suffocation from smoke, was not identified by relatives until Monday morning..." (The Mansfield News, Mansfield, MA, 12/04/1942). "She and her husband had been residents of Wellesley since last May, moving into a new home which had just been erected to their specifications" (The Townsman, Wellesley, 12/03/1942). Reported by a family descendent in March 2008 that "grand aunt" Louise and husband Edgar, having found out that she was finally pregnant, went to the Grove to celebrate (www3.gendisasters.com): "The loss devastated her parents and within a few months her mother...died. For several months her father's health declined and at some point he expressed...that he had nothing left to live for" (her parents actually died in May 1940 and July 1941, may possibly refer to other stricken relatives). Was raised in Framingham. Graduate of Académie Sainte-Anne (girls' French/English bilingual Catholic high school), in Marlborough, MA. Was a graduate of Emmanuel College. Was a teacher at Framingham High School prior to her 1939 marriage in Framingham. One of five expecting female fire victims (also Mrs. Gladys Charles, age 29, Mrs. Margaret Lewis, age 24, Mrs. Marion Steensen, age 23, and Mrs. Pauline "Polly" Wyner, age 24, all patrons), two others survived (all married). Husband recalled in a 1992 news interview upon the 50th anniversary of the blaze (at age 83): "Someone shouted fire and a great ball of flame raced across the ceiling" (Worcester Telegram, Worcester, MA, 11/22/1992). Trim custom-designed house at the address above retained an essentially unchanged appearance nearly a century later. Late parents Mr. and Mrs. Matthias and A. Elizabeth (Allard) Hollander. Her late father ironically operated a funeral service in Framingham. Burial at Edgell Grove Cemetery, Framingham (her widowed husband was interred upon his 1993 death at Monhegan Cemetery, Monhegan Island, ME). Middle name Elizabeth.
