Age 26. 9 Dorset Street, Dorchester (Boston), MA. Born on 6/08/1916, Cambridge, MA. Died of carbon monoxide poisoning and burns (death certificate). Housewife (death certificate). Companion (or companions) at the club unknown. "Attractive blonde entertainer...May have appeared as a singer at the Cocoanut Grove in the past" (Evening Tribune, Lawrence, MA, 12/01/1942). Husband Joseph B., age 32 (Born 2/10/1910. Died 12/17/1975, Quincy, MA, age 65), was not present at the blaze. Remains were identified by her husband at Southern Mortuary on Sunday by a watch bearing her mother's maiden name, "Diana Shaw." The Boston Globe, 11/30/1942: "Weeping with him was Charles Bannister [sic]...Mrs. Geribo's father, and grandfather of the 5-year-old daughter, Lorraine." Reported that her estranged birth father Mr. Joseph Pimental (since remarried, living in Lawrence, MA) learned of the tragic news when he opened a newspaper and scanned the lists of dead. Mr. Pimental closed his Lawrence meat market and went to Dorchester to arrange a funeral. Unfounded concern: "Friends said...there was a report that the young woman's husband is missing...His first name is unknown here" (Evening Tribune, 12/01/1942). Was a graduate of Somerville High School. Was living with her divorced mother at the Cambridge home of her maternal grandparents as of the 1930 federal census. Married Mr. Geribo in 1934, in Cambridge. From South Boston (Boston), MA, with her husband to Dorchester in 1941. Unconfirmed if she did previously perform at the club (no obvious mention in preserved club entertainment pay ledgers dating back to 1938). Parents Mrs. Diana (Shaw) and stepfather Mr. Charles M. Banister. Birth father was the above Mr. Pimental. Burial at Cambridge Cemetery, Cambridge. Middle name Rose.
