One of three female fire victims reported in the 11/30/1942 Boston Evening Globe as identified at Southern Mortuary in Boston the following Monday morning (also patrons Miss Marjorie Currier, age 39, and Miss Helen Fitzgerald, age 24). Husband John J. "Jake," age 36 (Born 10/07/1906. Died 8/21/1981, age 74), married in 1933, in Boston. Husband was not known present. Couple formerly resided at the home of her mother in Dorchester (Boston), MA. Was living with her mother in Dorchester (no husband present) as of the 1940 federal census (marital status: "single") and with her mother at the address above as of '42 street listings. Pair had no children. Was shown as "married" (to the same husband) on her death certificate. Husband, a bartender (era street listings), relocated to the Roxbury (Boston), MA, home of his parents in 1943, remained at the latter address until his death in August 1981. Husband never remarried. The above fuel distributor "Cities Service" was later rebranded "Citgo," became regionally known for its landmark neon sign rising over Boston's Kenmore Square and visible from Fenway Park (originally an unlit sign erected in 1940 atop an actual filling station, was enhanced with neon and famed red "triangle" logo in 1965). Parents Mrs. Sarah F. "Sadie" (Feeney), same address, and the late Mr. Neil J. McGaffigan. Father died in February 1938. Burial at New Calvary Cemetery, Mattapan (Boston), MA. One of 30 Grove victims interred at New Calvary Cemetery (22 burials) and its attached Mount or "Old" Calvary Cemetery, Roslindale (Boston), MA (8 burials), more than at any other single location. Middle name Claire.
