Age 23. 46 Shepard Street, Lynn, MA. Born 7/23/1919, in Lynn. Died of carbon monoxide poisoning (death certificate). Assistant supervisor, Hygrade Sylvania Corp. (lighting units), Salem, MA. Was attending the club in a trio with her cousin Norman Zeitsoff, age 30, visiting from Brooklyn, NY, dead, and younger sister Hilda, age 18 (Born 5/27/1924. Died as Hilda Bloom on 11/24/2009, age 85. Last residence San Francisco, CA), same Lynn address, escaped. Group was seated at a table in the main dining room near the lobby entrance. Her teen sister survived when she went to the ladies room opposite the Piedmont Street revolving door before planned dancing (latter informed the Daily Evening Item, Lynn, 11/30: "As I opened the door the lights went out...In some manner I was carried through the doorway and outdoors. I don't know how I ever got out"). "Leah Sudnovsky...was attired in a dress of gold cloth and wore a watch" (Daily Evening Item, 11/30/1942). Her remains were identified the following Monday afternoon at Southern Mortuary, Boston. Was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School. Graduate of Burdett College (secretarial), Boston. Was survived by an older third sibling Lillian, age 25 (not present). One of six Grove victims from the city of Lynn (also S/Sergt. Anthony P. Marotta, U.S.M.C., age 23. his wife Alice, age 20, club waiter Christes Roumeliotis, age 25, Miss Dorothy Scherer, age 20, and Mrs. Helen Simpson, age 35). Surname was misspelled "Sudnosky" (with a missing "v") on the official November 1943 Boston Committee on Public Safety master list of casualties (surname spelling was correct on her death certificate). Parents Mr. and Mrs. Samuel and Gussie (Lite) Sudnovsky, same address. Burial at North Reading Jewish (Lynn City Lodge) Cemeteries, North Reading, MA. Was the youngest of three Grove fire victims interred at the above collective Jewish cemeteries (also patrons Myer Marks, age 39, and Albert "Avy" Rosenfarb, age 32).
