Age 39. 38 Intervale Street, Roxbury (Boston), MA. Born (as Israel Taylor) on 1/23/1903, in Middlesborough, England. Died of carbon monoxide poisoning (death certificate). Manager, Dorchester (Boston), MA, branch, Shawmut National Bank, of Boston. Known as "Larry." In a foursome with friend Myer Marks, age 39, of Brookline, MA, also Rose and Sally Summer, ages 35 and 33 respectively, unmarried sisters from Brighton (Boston), MA, all dead. "He had gone to the popular night club for supper after seeing the Boston College-Holy Cross game" (The Boston Post, 12/01/1942). Suffolk County Assistant District Attorney and fire survivor Garrett Byrne, age 44 (Born 11/29/1897. Died 9/21/1989, in Milton, MA, age 91): "I would say it was about ten minutes of 10 that I went to the washroom, and...met Larry Taylor, who is a close friend of mine...and he told me that he had a party in the Melody Lounge..." (Boston Fire Dept. inquest, 12/04/1942). Group was misreported in the 11/30/1942 Boston Daily Record as being connected with the large film industry party to honor cowboy actor Charles "Buck" Jones on the main dining room raised rear terrace. Was included on a Sunday morning list of "probable identifications" (surname spelling "Taytor" [sic]) compiled by Boston City Hospital at Southern Mortuary (all male). Was single. To the U.S. in 1904. Was a graduate of Harvard University, 1923. First name "Lawrence" was added to his given birth name "Israel" upon his 1926 U.S. naturalization. "Besides being a devoted follower of all baseball, hockey and football teams, Mr. Taylor won many medals in amateur golf circles" (The Boston Post, 11/30/1942). An older brother, state senator Charles I. Taylor, appeared at public parole hearings in November 1946 on a proposed pardon of convicted and terminally ill club owner Barnett "Barney" Welansky (Born 11/22/1897. Died on 1/27/1947, heart failure, age 49): "Taylor...said the family held no animosity for Welansky and felt that if he were not pardoned his sentence actually would be a life one and not the sentence imposed in court" (Boston Sunday Herald, 11/24/1946). Parents Mr. and Mrs. Louis and Kate (Marcus) Taylor, same address. Funeral services were attended by Boston mayor Maurice Tobin (Born 5/22/1901. Died 7/19/1953, age 52). Burial at Mount Lebanon (Roxbury Lodge) Cemetery, West Roxbury (Boston), MA. Middle name Israel.
