Companion (or companions) at the club unknown. Her remains were brought to Northern Mortuary, Boston. Was engaged, fiancé William P. Luppold, age 30 (Born 10/31/1912. Died 7/01/1977, age 64), was not present. July 1977 obituary of the latter, a longtime Boston Globe printer: "Mr. Luppold's fiancée...died in the Cocoanut Grove fire in 1942 while Mr. Luppold was overseas" (The Boston Globe, 7/03/1977). Was a graduate of Girls High School, East Boston. Lifetime resident of East Boston. First name was misspelled "Catherine" (with a "C") in some news accounts and in published death notices (correct spelling on her death certificate and on the final official November 1943 Boston Committee on Public Safety casualty list, but her surname was misspelled "Nagel" on the latter). With her family had recently moved from 1197 Saratoga Street, East Boston (address shown on the final official master list of casualties), to the address above. One of 34 known engaged persons to be lost (20 male and 14 female). One of four Grove victims from the Hub "neighborhood" of East Boston (also Miss Maria DiFilippo, age 28, David Verstandig, age 22, and Mary Zenkin, age 32, all patrons). One of 464 club guests killed in addition to 26 non-patrons (including 17 employees, 6 visiting entertainers, one War Bonds salesgirl, also two outside passing fire rescuers), a total of 490 dead. Parents Mr. and Mrs. John E. and Rebecca (Giles) Nagle, same St. Andrew Road address. Burial at Winthrop Cemetery, Winthrop, MA (first name spelled "Katherine" with a "K" on her stone). Middle name Lorraine.
