At the club with a married friend, Mrs. Julia Ford, age 37, also of West Roxbury, dead. "Burned to death in the Cocoanut Grove with Mrs. Ford was Mrs. Jessie McKee..." (Parkway Transcript, Roslindale, MA, 12/03/1942). Her remains were identified at Northern Mortuary, in Boston. Husband Dr. David O. McKee, age 34 (Born 5/03/1908. Died 6/23/1991, age 83. Last residence Canton, OH), Captain, U.S. Army Medical Corps, away on duty "somewhere in the Southern Pacific" (Parkway Transcript, 12/03/1942), was not present. Married in 1938, in New Jersey. Reported in the 12/03/1942 Eastern Chronicle, New Glasgow, N.S., Canada, as a former resident of New Waterford, N.S. With Mrs. Ford were two of 12 Grove victims from the Hub "neighborhood" of West Roxbury (also Joseph Crowley, Jr., age 22, Mr. and Mrs. John and Josephine Donovan, ages 34 and 33, Patrick Keleher, Jr., age 24, Miss Norma MacDonald, age 20, Miss Eleanor McCarthy, age 22, Mrs. Ruth McGreevy, age 26, Joseph Swan, age 35, and Mr. and Mrs. John and Christina Wessling, ages 34 and 29, all patrons). Parents Mr. and Mrs. Allan H. and Catherine (McPhee) MacDonald, of Nova Scotia. Parkway Transcript, 12/03/1942: "To allow relatives to reach here from Nova Scotia, funeral services will not be held until Saturday." Burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery, West Roxbury (large single-burial gravestone reads: "Thy will be done"). Was the fourth oldest of 13 siblings. One of 24 fire victims interred at the above St. Joseph's Cemetery, the second-greatest final resting grounds for all Grove casualties (after the connected Mount or "Old" Calvary and New Calvary cemeteries, also in Boston, latter a combined total of 30 burials). Middle name Ann.
