Age 18. 755 Red Bud Avenue, Cincinnati, OH. Born on 9/19/1924, in Cincinnati. Died of burns (death certificate). Freshman at Wellesley College, Wellesley, MA (resided at Claflin Hall). Was known as "Jackie." At the club with date Marvin Katzman, age 25, of Los Angeles, CA, latter attending Harvard Business School, dead. "Officials of Wellesley reported that Miss Weiss signed out as going to the Cocoanut Grove the night of the fire" (The Cincinnati Enquirer, 11/30/1942). Was one of four Wellesley coeds attending the club as a group each with dates. "The names of the student escorts were found on the 'evening out' record books at the girls' dormitories" (The Boston Globe, 12/01/1942). Her father came from Ohio to Boston upon hearing the tragic news, located her remains at Northern Mortuary the following Monday afternoon. "Weiss was unable to say more on the telephone than that he had identified the body of his daughter..." (The Cincinnati Enquirer, 12/01/1942). Was the last of the Wellesley College victims to be identified. The Townsman, Wellesley, 12/03/1942: "Two of the students' bodies showed no signs of burns and it is believed that they died quickly of asphyxiation. The other two girls' bodies were terribly burned and mutilated and it was extremely difficult for college authorities and members of the families to identify them." Was single. Graduated Walnut Hills High School (public coed prep school), in Cincinnati, 1942, where she gained mention the past January as one of seven students (of 1,000) with "perfect teeth" as judged by a dental hygienist. One of three fire casualties from Ohio (also John Harry, age 22, and Carl Russell, age 21, both U.S. Navy; in addition victim Hubert Fitch, age 26, was relocated six months' prior by his employer from Ohio to Worcester, MA). Eldest of the four student victims from Wellesley College (also Miss Sadie Fors and Miss Margaret "Peg" Whitson, both age 17, and Miss Alean Winkelman, age 18). Parents Mr. and Mrs. Herman and Roslyn C. "Roy" (Cohen) Weiss, same Ohio address. Burial at Judah Touro Cemetery, Cincinnati.
