Apprentice machinist, Bethlehem Steel Co., Fore River Shipyard, Quincy, MA. Attended the Grove with night shift coworker Carl Nelson, age 19, also of Braintree, dead. The teen pair were celebrating the recent acceptance of Mr. Nelson into the armed forces. His remains were identified at Southern Mortuary, Boston. Was raised in Braintree. Graduate of Braintree High School. Was single. Slim frame (WWII draft registration, June '42: MA. 5' 11," 165 lbs.). Was a lifetime Braintree resident. With Mr. Nelson were two of three Grove victims from the south shore community of Braintree (also club bartender Martin "Marty" Breen, age 41). With young Nelson were two of eleven Grove casualties employed at the above Fore River shipyard (also Joseph Clancy, age 24, Charles Duhamel, age 27, Arnold Isaacson, age 22, Donald MacMillan, age 30, Louis "Barry" Nash, age 29, John Steensen, age 29, Miss J. Louise Sullivan, age 27, and single sisters Louise and Irma Wilding, ages 22 and 19, all patrons). One of 46 teens killed in the disaster (out of 490 total victims), 37 other known teens survived. One of 61 minors (then under the age of 21) lost. Observed online (in December 2009): "Henry Rivoire was my grandmother's brother...Over 65 years later Henry and all that perished are still remembered..." (www3.gendisasters.com).
