Bulman on 12/11/2020, age 99. Last residence Greenfield, MA), a senior at Regis College, Weston, MA, left shortly before the blaze to return to their nearby Hotel Statler room to meet friends. Group had attended the afternoon 28-point-underdog Holy Cross 55-to-12 football crushing of heavily-favored Boston College at Fenway Park. Misreported in some sources as attached to cowboy movie actor Charles "Buck" Jones' large party on the raised rear dining room terrace (possibly because Mr. Sharby was well-known in regional film circles). By an ironic turn had erected a model fireproof home built of metal and stucco in Keene in 1939 (address above), after two of his theatres burned with casualties. "The dwelling that Sharby designed with the aid of an architect is a fire prevention specialist's dream house" (The Boston Globe, 6/26/1999). "Fred Sharby's house survives...a subtle reminder of the wicked twists fate sometimes takes" (New Hampshire Curiosities, by author Eric Jones, 2006). Married in 1920. Member of the Keene city government and Auxiliary Police Department. "He had a large circle of friends throughout the city" (Manchester Union, Manchester, NH, 11/30/1942). Survived by his adult daughter above and younger children Wynson "Winnie," age 12, and Bruce, age 7. Reported that for nearly a year his wife carried an imprint of a man's heel on her forehead (her obituary). His wife sold the family theatre business in 1950. Parents Mr. and Mrs. Joseph C. and Luarana (Smith) Sharby. Burial with his victim son at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Keene, NH. His widow was interred with her late husband and son upon her March 1980 death. Middle name Peter.
