Her companion, Sidney Moldin, age 23 (Born as Sidney Moldowsky on 11/29/1918. Died as Dr. Sidney Moldin on 7/08/1983, age 64. Last residence New Bedford, MA), of Youngstown, OH, a Middlesex University medical student, "...escaped when pushed through the revolving doors while waiting for...Miss Florence Yaffee [sic]...who perished in the ladies' room" (Waltham News-Tribune, Waltham, MA, 11/30/1942). Was single. Was raised in Dorchester (Boston), MA. Was a graduate of Dorchester High School for Girls, Boston, one of six alumnae lost from the Hub public academy. Surname was misspelled "Yaffee" (with two "e"s at the end) in some news accounts. Surname spelling was correct on her death certificate and on the final official November 1943 Boston Committee on Public Safety master list of casualties, but her middle initial was reported on the latter as "T." ("R." in all other sources). One of four victims from the north shore seaside community of Winthrop (also Miss Ruth Bornstein, age 16, Miss Helen Virginia Brooks, age 26, and Albert "Avy" Rosenfarb, age 32, all patrons). Was one of 223 single patron victims (also 194 married, 34 engaged, 9 divorced, and 4 widowed guests killed, a total of 464 customers dead out of 490 taken overall). One of six casualties with death certificates showing "suffocation" as the primary cause of death (228 others pronounced "burns" or "carbon monoxide poisoning" each as the main reasons, eight more included both of the above causes, while 26 others gave alternate origins or stated simply "trapped in burning building"). Parents Mr. and Mrs. Milton and Elizabeth (Kroll) Yaffe, same address. Burial at Fuller Street (Liberty Progressive) Cemetery, Everett. The Fuller Street grounds (comprising 25 connected individual Jewish cemeteries) was the final resting place for more Grove casualties (18) than any other single location outside Boston.
