Public stenographer ('42 street listings), or "at home" (death certificate). Also known as "Ella." Attended the club with Miss Evelyn Richardson, age 24, same address, dead. Pair were reported in the 12/01/1942 Boston Herald as present with Leroy Marks, of McClure, PA, age 31 (Born 6/17/1911. Died 4/18/2003, Northumberland, PA, age 91), injured, who claimed to arrive at the Grove alone. Trio was in the cellar Melody Lounge when fire broke. Mr. Marks to the Boston Police, 11/29/1942: "Two girls went upstairs at the same time with me, and as we went up the stairs, the fire went all over the ceiling and was coming after us..." Her body was identified late Monday at Southern Mortuary, Boston. Husband Roy Frank Kipp, age 38 (Born 12/29/1903. Died 6/17/1995, Worcester, MA, age 91), Hub lawyer and businessman (not present), informed reporters that his wife had gone to the Grove with "a girl friend" to see the floor show. Was raised by an aunt and uncle in Fallon, NV, after her mother died in 1907. Living with a first husband, Edward O. Patterson, Jr., in Carson City, NV, as of the '30 federal census, later divorced. Married Iowa native Mr. Kipp in 1932, in Reno, NV, where the latter attended the University of Nevada. Couple came to Boston in 1934. Survived by a son from her previous marriage, Edward Patterson, age 13 (living with his birth father in Los Angeles, CA). Revealed by a Kipp family descendent, July 2017: "Eloise Ferguson [sic] did not die due to fire, she died as a result of being trampled by the crowd. She was a woman of slight build..." (www.ancestry.com). Middle initial was misreported as "V." on the official November 1943 Boston Committee on Public Safety master list of casualties. Parents Mr. Charles "Duke" and the late Mrs. Ida "May" (Frenchy) Ferguson. "Mrs. Kipp's body has been cremated and the ashes sent to California, where her parents...had formerly lived" (Waterloo Daily Courier, Waterloo, IA, 12/01/1942). Ashes were interred beside a late infant daughter in Carson City, NV (exact location was not revealed). Middle name Ferguson.
