In a gathering of 15 known as the "Allston-Brighton Sewing Circle" party, all but one present perished (source of the group name is unknown, but first appeared in next-day news coverage). Lone group survivor was Frederick Harrington, age 52 (Born 9/21/1890. Died 4/21/1972, age 81. Last residence Dorchester, MA), of Brighton (Boston), MA (his wife Catherine "Vernie," age 51, did not attend). Gathering was seated at combined main dining room tables to the right side of the rolling wooden dance floor. Also present her married younger brother Mr. William Whitmarsh, age 32, and his wife Mildred, age 28, celebrating their 5th wedding anniversary, also the latter's parents Mr. and Mrs. John and Alice Murray, ages 52 and 48 respectively, all of Dorchester, observing their 29th wedding anniversary. Her remains were identified at Northern Mortuary in Boston. Was single, the lone unmarried member of the large social gathering. With her brother was one of nine pairs of mixed-gender siblings killed (others: Steven Casavant and his married sister Rita Bellows, ages 21 and 24, Eva Healy and her brother Harold James Ford, ages 41 and 34, both married; Anna Rita "Sally" O'Neil and her married brother John O'Neil, ages 19 and 28, Isabelle O'Neil and her married brother Thomas O'Neil, ages 41 and 48, Monty Shanker and his married sister Alice Resnick, ages 27 and 23, Earl Tattrie and his half-sister Mrs. Harrilyn "Dolly" Taft, ages 31 and 21, both married, John Wessling and his sister Marie Kenney, ages 34 and 33, both married; and William Young and his married sister Margaret Feeny, ages 36 and 33). Parents Mrs. Margaret A. (Archibald), same address, and the late Mr. William P. Whitmarsh. Burial with her victim brother at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Abington, MA. Middle name Harriet.
