Was attending the club with his fiancée Miss Marie Louise Hollander, age 21, of Flourtown, PA, dead. Miss Hollander had left from Pennsylvania the same morning after visiting her father there. "Arriving in Boston Saturday evening she met her fiancé and they went immediately to the Cocoanut Grove for dinner..." (Stamford Advocate, Stamford, CT, 12/05/1942). Had requested his father Charles, Sr., accompany the pair to the club, but the latter declined. "His father is a well known liquor dealer, and the two of them comprise the entire Fauci family" (Boston Daily Record, 11/30/1942). Remains were identified by his father on Sunday at Northern Mortuary, Boston. Was recently commissioned, to report for duty on the following Monday. "Fauci...had been a member of the class of '44 at Yale, but left college to enter the Coast Guard" (The Ambler Gazette, Ambler, PA, 12/10/1942). Couple planned to marry the coming January. Was raised in Medford, MA. Made his home with an aunt, Miss Frances C. Denehy, in Wellesley Hills (address above), after the death of his mother in 1937. Had escaped serious injury with Miss Hollander in July 1938 when their open motorboat exploded off the Gloucester, MA, coast (AP wire article, 7/29/1938: "They were picked up by the crew of another boat. Police reported Fauci believed a leaky gas line was to blame"). The Boston Evening Globe, 8/02/1945: "Workmen who are tearing down the ruins of the Cocoanut Grove...today recovered an inscribed serviceman's wrist watch...The crystal of the watch was smashed and the works were in rusty condition...The watch bore the inscription: 'Precious and Priceless...Time and You...Demby [sic] 10-5-42.'" Ownership revealed in the same paper the next day: "The watch...has been identified as being the property of Charles M. Fauci...It had been a birthday gift to Fauci from his aunt..."
