Age 28. 25 Wellington Hill Street, Mattapan (Boston), MA. Born 12/10/1913, in Boston. Died of carbon monoxide poisoning (death certificate). Salesgirl, Scott Furriers, Inc., of Boston. Co-host of a main dining room party to announce her engagement and wedding in three weeks to Theodore "Ted" Fisher, age 27, of Brighton (Boston), MA. All ten perished, including the nuptial couple. Identified guests included Miss Edna Fine, age 20, of Brookline, MA, Abraham "Richard" Plager, age 34, and Bernard Supowitz, age 36, both of Chelsea, MA, and Edward Ross, age 27, of Roxbury (Boston), MA. Four additional guests were not named. Group size was widely misreported in early news accounts as "22" (including the wedding couple), inflated count was apparently based on the size of a large pre-Grove celebration held elsewhere earlier in the evening. Actual party size was revealed by an older brother of Mr. Fisher who explained to an Ohio newspaper the gathering included the wedding pair, "...and eight other friends" (The Cleveland Press, Cleveland, OH, 12/01/1942). Remains were identified the following Monday at Southern Mortuary in Boston. Was raised in Chelsea. Parents Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Bella (Kartsoff) Kemelgor, same address. Her father (born as Jossel Kemelgor, in Poland), officially changed his surname to "Cohen" upon his May 1945 U.S. naturalization, but was known by the latter surname prior. Group of ten was, in fact, the largest known single Grove party in which all present perished (a foursome of male college students and their four Wellesley College dates was next, all eight dead). Burial at Fuller Street (Cambridge Congregational) Cemetery, Everett, MA. The body of her fiancé was shipped to his family in Cleveland, OH. One of 18 victims interred at Fuller Street collective Jewish cemeteries, the fourth-greatest final resting grounds for all Grove casualties, and most at any single location outside Boston proper.
