Had attended a farewell stag party of 16 held at the Hotel Lenox, Boston, for G.E. coworker and fire survivor Frank Weaver, age 25 (Born 9/27/1917. Died 1/09/1992, age 74. Last residence Framingham, MA), of Lynn. The latter was leaving the employ of the company for the armed services. The group split into three taxis, was among the first to arrive at the club. With G.E. coworkers Elisha Cobb, age 29, of Newton Centre (Newton), MA, and Herbert "Jack" Haines, age 26, of Cambridge, MA (both dead), were just checking their coats while one other stopped at the revolving door (survivor Charles Beldotti, age 35, of Somerville, MA. Born 10/18/1907. Died 1/13/2003, age 95. Last residence Needham Heights, MA) to wait for an unnamed fifth man to pay the taxi driver. Cabby and fire witness Reno Sandri, age 24 (Born 11/30/1917. Died 12/05/1995, age 78. Last residence Quincy, MA) to a reporter at the scene: "I saw nine men walk in a minute before it happened and I didn't see one of them walk out" (UP wire article, 11/29/1942). Had attended Templeton High School. Was a graduate of Worcester Trade School, Worcester, MA, 1936. Wife former Estelle Y. Faucher, age 24 (Born 1/02/1918. Died 8/01/1998, age 80. Never remarried), wed in 1941, in Baldwinville. Wife was not present. Relocated with his wife from Melrose, MA, to Reading two months before the blaze (would have otherwise been the sole fire victim from nearby Melrose, a city of 25,000). Instead was the lone casualty from the northern Middlesex County town of Reading. Survived by twin infant sons Bruce and David, aged 4 months. Lean build (WWII draft registration, October '40: 6' 0," 160 lbs.). The above Mr. Beldotti became the last person to enter the club as the tragedy broke when he became trapped in the entrance side of the main revolving door (told The Boston Globe, 3/31/1943: "'The door started around to a point where my compartment was within the framework of the entrance, and then it stopped...').
