Age 30. 11 Normandy Road, Auburndale (Newton), MA. Born (as Arthur Thomas Connelly) on 8/10/1912, in Newton, MA. Died of carbon monoxide poisoning (death certificate). Production clerk, Waltham Watch Co., Waltham, MA. Attended the club with coworker Mr. Earl Tattrie, age 31, and the latter's wife Aurise, age 27, of Ashland, MA, also Mr. Tattrie's married younger half-sister, Mrs. Harrilyn "Dolly" Taft, age 21, of Pawtucket, RI, all dead. The military husband of Mrs. Taft was not present, was serving overseas. Arrived from Waltham at 5 o'clock Saturday afternoon after work with Mr. Tattrie to the rented Ashland home of the latter, "...and all left in high spirits, for Boston" (Framingham News, Framingham, MA, 11/30/1942). One of 60 "probable identifications" inventoried by Boston City Hospital on Sunday morning (8:00 a.m.) at Southern Mortuary in Boston (all male). Was raised in Newton and also in New Haven and Hamden, CT. Graduate of New Haven High School in 1930 ('30 Elm Tree yearbook: "Hockey is his hobby"). Scholastic nickname "Bud." Was single. Slight build (WWII draft registration, October '40: 5' 9," 130 lbs.). One of 14 victims from the city of Newton (including its dozen-plus "villages;" also Miss Eleanor Chiampa, age 15, Elisha Cobb, Jr., age 29, Miss Eula Place, age 21, Mrs. Pauline Rifkin, age 56, Douglas Ober, age 24, Miss Caroline Saphar, age 19, Mrs. Sadie Levin, age 38, Miss Shirley Lubell, age 22, Mr. and Mrs. John "Rollie" and Catherine "Kay" McCann, ages 43 and 32, Arthur McLaughlin, age 35, John Hope, age 46, and Philip Seletsky, age 39, all patrons). One of three dead from the Newton village of Auburndale (also the above Mr. Ober and Miss Saphar). Parents Mr. and Mrs. James L. and Helen G. (O'Neil) Connelly, same address. Waltham News-Tribune, 11/30/1942: "His father...is advertising and circulation manager of the Waltham News-Tribune." Burial at Calvary Cemetery, Waltham. Middle name Robert.
