Was the 483rd casualty of the Grove disaster (of a final count of 490). With her husband was one of four married couples present in the above movie business gathering in which both spouses died (also Mr. and Mrs. Edward and Beatrice Ansin, ages 39 and 37, Mr. and Mrs. Paul and Rhea Baron, both age 35, and Mr. and Mrs. Oliver and Josephine St. Pierre, ages 39 and 35). With Mr. Stern was one of the two eldest couples at the club in which both spouses perished, a combined 102 years of age (also patrons Mr. Isaac Gordon, age 61, and his wife Minnie, age 41, same combined age). One of 20 names chosen by the Commonwealth as representative victims at the spring 1943 Grove manslaughter trials of club owner Barnett "Barney" Welansky, age 45 (not present due to illness), his brother James, age 46, and wine steward Jacob "Jack" Goldfine, age 47 (the latter two found not guilty of all charges).
