With her husband were two of 38 Grove victims from the Dorchester district of Boston, twice as many as from any other Hub "neighborhood" (Brighton was next with 19 dead). With her husband was one of 56 married couples present in which both spouses lost their lives. With her brother was one of nine mixed-gender sibling pairs taken in the blaze (others: Steven Casavant, single, and his married sister Mrs. Rita Bellows, ages 21 and 24, Harold James Ford and his sister Mrs. Eva Healy, ages 34 and 41, both married; Miss Anna Rita "Sally" O'Neil and her newly-married brother John O'Neil, ages 19 and 28, Miss Isabelle O'Neil and her married brother Thomas O'Neil, ages 41 and 48, Earl Tattrie and his half-sister Mrs. Harrilyn "Dolly" Taft, ages 31 and 21, both married, John Wessling and his sister Mrs. Marie Kenney, ages 34 and 33, both married; Miss Ella Whitmarsh and her married brother William Whitmarsh, ages 34 and 32, and William Young, engaged, and his married sister Mrs. Margaret Feeny, ages 36 and 33). Parents Mrs. Dora (White), same address, and the late Mr. Joseph Shanker. Her mother died two months later, on 2/01/1943, one of at least six parents of fire victims to pass within six months following the disaster (also: victims Miss Eula Place, age 21, mother died on 2/04/1943; Miss Josephine Gibbons, age 24, mother died on 2/05/1943; Grove musician Bernardo Fazioli, age 45, mother died on 3/07/1943, John Steensen, age 29, father died on 3/18/1943; and Mrs. Pauline Saunders, age 28, father died on 5/18/1943; possibly others).
