Gathering was to celebrate their respective engagements. Her remains were identified on Sunday at Southern Mortuary by a married older sister, Mrs. Doris M. Hodge, age 36 (not present). The latter committed suicide five months after: "Despondency over loss of a sister, one of the...victims of the Cocoanut Grove disaster, was blamed today for the death of Mrs. Doris Hodge...found unconscious from a bullet wound in her home" (Springfield Daily News, Springfield, MA, 4/23/1943). The husband of Mrs. Hodge succumbed five weeks later from a reported illness. Was a graduate of Quincy High School. Mr. Widdop was previously a coworker at the above Remick's store (owned by Francis E. "Frank" Remick, the father of future movie and television actress Lee Ann Remick, who was age 6 in 1942). Made social news the past summer when she vacationed with two other Remick's girls at Boothbay Harbor, ME. Parents Mr. and Mrs. Albert M. and Bertha (Hayden) MacCurdy, same address. Star-crossed family suffered an additional loss when her father passed away in March 1945 (her mother lived until 1959). Burial at Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy. In memoriam poem penned by a different married older sister, Mrs. Ruth Osborne, in the 12/07/1942 Quincy Patriot Ledger, starts: "Dear little Gin, sister dear. You can't travel far from here. Yes, in our hearts you are here forever. And we know you'll leave us never..." Middle name Bertha.
