Made news when he filed for voluntary bankruptcy protection in August 1939 (The Boston Herald, 8/08/1939: "Liabilities, $307; assets, none"). Couple were separated as of the 1940 federal census. Employment status: "not employed" as of his WWII draft registration, October '40. Survived by children Sharlene, age 10, and Victor, Jr., age 8. Address shown as "49 Wellington Street, Worcester, MA" (Florence Apartments), in published death notices, Auburn address above given on the final official November 1943 Boston Committee on Public Safety master casualties list. Gillies. Burial at Riverside Cemetery, North Reading, MA, the only Grove fatality interred in the Middlesex County town of North Reading.
