Age 28. 1 Benedict Street, Somerville, MA. Born (as Suvia Antico) on 9/27/1914, in Boston. Died of carbon monoxide poisoning (death certificate). Packer at W. F. Schrafft & Sons Corp. (confectioners), Charlestown (Boston), MA. Known as "Sophie." Was at the club with companions Miss Roberta Jennie Russell, age 29, Everett, MA, a coworker at Schrafft's, and Miss Margaret "Peggy" Graham, age 28, Roxbury (Boston), MA, both dead. All-girls trio listened to the historic season-ending B.C. Eagles / Holy Cross Crusaders college football game broadcast over WNAC Boston radio (starting at 1:15 p.m.) at the Antico home, then decided to attend the nightspot. Her remains were transported to Southern Mortuary in Boston. Moved from Dorchester (Boston), MA, to Somerville two months prior. One of eight victims from the nearby city of Somerville (also Mrs. Rose Bean, age 18, Miss Marjorie Currier, age 39, Joseph Fortunati, age 28, Howard Johnson, age 31, Miss Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Keefe, age 20, club bartender Vincent Preziuso, Jr., age 22, and Sica "Sam" Wyner, age 28). The above hub candy maker known for its boxed chocolate assortments was later acquired by New York interests in 1967, operated until March 1981. Parents Mr. and Mrs. Francesco "Frank" and Antonietta "Mary" (Cherasula) Antico, Boston. Was posthumously included as still residing with her parents through 1946 in Boston street listings. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden, MA. One of 16 fire victims buried at the above cemetery, the fifth-greatest final resting grounds for all Grove casualties and second-most at any single site outside Boston proper (after Fuller Street collective Jewish cemeteries, Everett, MA, with 18 dead).
