In a cellar foursome with her older sister and coworker Rose, age 35, also Myer Marks, of Brookline, MA, and Lawrence "Larry" Taylor, of Roxbury (Boston), MA, both age 39, all dead. Remains were identified with those of her sister at Southern Mortuary, Boston. Group was misreported in the 11/30/1942 Boston Daily Record as part of a large gathering for cowboy actor Charles "Buck" on the main dining room terrace. Actual location within the club was revealed through inquest testimony by Suffolk County Assistant District Attorney and fire survivor Garrett Byrne, age 44 (Born 11/29/1897. Died 9/21/1989, in Milton, MA, age 91): "I would say it was about ten minutes of 10 that I...met Larry Taylor, who is a close friend of mine...and he told me that he had a party in the Melody Lounge..." (Boston Fire Dept. inquest, 12/04/1942). Was single. Was shown by her birth first name Sadie through the 1930 federal census, "Sally" thereafter. Surname (with her sister) misreported as Sumner (with an "n") in some news accounts. Surname spelling was correct on the final official November 1943 Boston Committee on Public Safety master list of casualties, but her first name was misspelled "Sallie" (with an "ie" at the end). Birth dates on era passenger lists appeared as "6/19/1910" in 1936 and '40, and "6/18/1909" in '39 (date used here was taken directly from New York City birth records). Her father filed a wrongful death suit in connection with the tragedy on behalf of his deceased daughters in Suffolk Superior Court (dismissed on December 15).
