
Age 26. 28 Winthrop Street, Milton, MA. Born 7/01/1916, Dorchester (Boston), MA. Died of burns (death certificate). Student nurse, Boston Dispensary, Boston (death certificate). Known to her friends as "Ruthie." In an all-girls party of six with Miss Alice Brady, age 28, of Walpole, MA, Miss Katherine "Kay" Holland, age 32, of Dorchester, sisters Hannah and Winifred O'Dea, ages 28 and 24 respectively, both single, of Norwood, MA, and Miss Nora "Noreen" Sullivan, age 29, of Forest Hills (Boston), MA, all dead. Had attended a show in town with Miss Sullivan, pair then met up later with the others. At the club no more than 25 minutes when the fire broke. Moved from Dorchester to Milton as a child. Graduated Milton High School in 1935. Was single. Was survived by a twin sister Rosamond (not present). Father, a pressman at The Boston Post, "...didn't learn his daughter was missing until the final edition had come from the presses" (The Boston Post, 12/01/1942). Another Boston Post pressman, Mr. Hugh Cameron, also lost a daughter in a separate party (victim Miss Edna Cameron, age 30). One of four Grove deaths from the nearby Hub suburb of Milton (also John W. Griffin, age 34, Walter Rapp, age 17, and Charles Sheehan, Jr., age 15, all patrons). One of 234 females killed, in addition to 256 males (the latter count including two outside passing rescue workers), a total of 490 dead. Her party of a half-dozen was the largest all-female gathering in which all present perished. Parents Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. and Catherine V. (Kiley) Dwyer, same address.
