Husband was a building contractor. Couple had attended the season-ending afternoon B.C./Holy Cross college football game at Fenway Park, then went to the Grove for dinner. Was seated with her husband in the main dining room when the fire broke. Husband to Boston Police, 11/29/1942 (from Cambridge City Hospital): "All of a sudden, there seemed to be a stampede and somebody shouted, 'Fire.' 'Stay calm,' I said, 'We'll find a way out.' We rushed to where the waiters were bringing trays from the kitchen." Her remains were transported to Southern Mortuary, Boston. Husband was described by the 12/03/1942 Parkway Transcript, Roslindale, MA, as, "...dangerously ill from burns and other injuries, and unable to see visitors..." Husband eventually recovered. Was a graduate of Dorchester High School for Girls, Boston (oldest of at least six alumnae, also Miss Edna Fine, age 20, Miss Beatrice Goldstein and Miss Lillian Golosov, both age 19, Mrs. Alice Resnick, age 23, and Miss Florence Yaffe, age 20). Married in 1938, in Boston. Survived by two young children, Thomas J., 3rd, age 3, and Louise, age 3 months. Was alternately known as "Ruth" and as "Ruth Louise" (was identified as "Ruth B." in death notices and on her death certificate, "Ruth L." in era street listings). With her husband was one of 25 married couples present where one spouse perished while the other survived. Parents Mr. Frederick T. and the late Mrs. Louise A. (Gainard) Boyle. Burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery, West Roxbury. Widowed husband (never remarried) was buried with his victim wife upon his February 1977 passing. Middle name Boyle.
