Briden & Co. and Clinton Dye Works, of Clinton. Known as "Bob." His wife Eleanor, age 26, also perished. Couple was in a group of six Clinton residents, all attended the important afternoon B.C. Eagles / Holy Cross Crusaders football game played at Fenway Park in Boston. Others present Mr. and Mrs. James and Catherine Salmon, ages 28 and 29 respectively, both dead, also Henry Gaw, age 30, and his girlfriend Miss Loretta Russell, age 28, both injured. The party had dinner reservations at the nearby Latin Quarter club, but arrived late and their table was given to someone else. Attempted to enter a half-dozen other clubs and restaurants before they approached the Grove. Were seated at a "tiny" table on the main dining room raised rear terrace. Name appeared on a Sunday morning list of "probable identifications" compiled by Boston City Hospital at Southern Mortuary, Boston (all male). Was raised in Rockville, CT. Married in 1940. Lone party survivors Mr. Gaw (Born 11/26/1912. Died 8/01/2002, age 89. Last residence Clinton) and Miss Russell (Born 12/07/1913. Died as Loretta I. Gaw on 5/23/1990, age 76. Last residence Clinton) later married in 1946. Recalled by Mr. Gaw (at age 79) in 1992: "We got through it fairly well, thank God. But we lost four good friends" (Worcester Telegram, Worcester, MA, 11/22/1992). Mr. Gaw added the improbable raised terrace seating was achieved when Mr. Coleman slipped a waiter "a pretty good tip."
