Hyman
Pauline P. Hyman
(1924 - 1942)

Age 18. 75 Walnut Avenue, Revere, MA. Born 2/27/1924, in Revere. Died of burns (death certificate). Salesgirl, Wm. Filene's Sons Co. (apparel), Boston. Was present with a friend, Miss Doris Rosenbaum, of Revere, dead. Teen pair were observing the same-day 19th birthday of Miss Rosenbaum. "Pauline Hyman...had a pretty party dress made so that she might celebrate...with her first visit to the softly-lighted, famous night club..." (Boston Daily Record, 11/30/1942). Also: "Pauline is dead. But her pretty party dress was untouched by the flames." Her remains were identified at Northern Mortuary, Boston. A photo with Miss Rosenbaum made exactly one week before the blaze was posthumously published on the front page of the 12/03/1942 Revere Journal (close-up shown here). Was next-door neighbors on corner streets with fire victim Max Gorvine, age 44, of Revere (other connection if any unknown). With Miss Rosenbaum were the two youngest of seven casualties from the north shore city of Revere (also Miss Josephine Camusi, age 30, Robert Freede, age 51, club bartender Paul Mikalonis "Mitchell," age 27, and Jacob Schwartz, age 32; plus the above Mr. Gorvine). With her companion were two of 61 minors (then under age 21) taken in the disaster (of 490 total victims). Parents Mr. David, same address, and the late Mrs. Rose (Greenberg) Hyman. Mother died in 1928. Burial at Melrose Jewish (Vilkomir) Cemeteries, Melrose, MA. Was the lone Grove fatality interred in the Hub suburb of Melrose (oddly no victims were claimed from the nearby city of 25,000, at least three known residents survived). Middle name Pearl.
