
Age 39. 64 Statler Road, Belmont, MA. Born 9/21/1903, in Fall River, MA. Died of carbon monoxide poisoning (death certificate). Director of the art department, Publix Theatres Corp. (d.b.a. "Metropolitan Theatre"), 268 Tremont Street, Boston. Was attending a multi-table film industry party of 29 to honor touring cowboy star Charles "Buck" Jones, age 50, dead, on the main dining room raised rear terrace with his wife Josephine, age 35. His wife died nine days post-blaze on December 7 at Boston City Hospital. His remains were located at Southern Mortuary in Boston. "His body, which rested at a morgue since it was recovered from the fire ruins was identified late yesterday [Monday] afternoon..." (Fall River Herald News, 12/01/1942). "Mr. St. Pierre's body was identified by members of the art department of the Metropolitan Theatre" (Wakefield Daily Item, Wakefield, MA, 12/02/1942). Was raised in Fall River. Survived by daughters Lorraine, age 14, and Barbara, age 12. As Mrs. Barbara Swartzwelder, of Marshfield, MA, the latter (brought up by an aunt and uncle) recalled to the 11/27/2002 Patriot Ledger, Quincy, MA, that her mother had not wanted to go out that night, but her father assured her they would not be gone long. Was known professionally as "O. A. St. Pierre." Was attached to the Massachusetts State Guard. State Guardsmen acted as pallbearers at his funeral services the following Wednesday. Average build (WWII draft registration, February '42: 5' 10½," 170 lbs.). With his wife was one of 56 married pairs present to both perish, including 22 with children, resulting in 43 minors (under the age of 21) being orphaned (plus one minor daughter orphaned when her widowed father died). Couple were two of three Grove casualties from the Hub suburb of Belmont (also patron Charles Hirtle, age 26). Parents Mr. and Mrs. Alphonse and Aurelie (Fortin) St. Pierre. Burial with his wife at Belmont Cemetery, Belmont. Middle name Aime.
