Age 30. 769 St. Mark's Avenue (Buckingham Hall Apartments), Brooklyn, NY. Born 12/18/1911, in Yonkers, NY. Died of carbon monoxide poisoning (death certificate). Grocery store operator, at 554 Marcy Avenue, Brooklyn. Was visiting Boston on business, registered at the nearby Hotel Statler. Attended the Grove with his local nieces Hilda, age 18 (Born 5/27/1924. Died as Mrs. Hilda Bloom on 11/24/2009, age 85. Last residence San Francisco, CA), survived, and Leah Sudnovsky, age 23, dead, unmarried sisters from Lynn, MA. The trio had just finished dinner at their main dining room table located near the club entrance when fire struck. Hilda was the lone party survivor when she went into the foyer ladies room to wash soiled hands prior to dancing. "The family of Norman Zeitsoff...were still uncertain of his fate, having received no word from Boston other that he had been listed among the missing" (Brooklyn Eagle, 11/30/1942). His remains were located the following Monday at Southern Mortuary, Boston. Was survived by a baby son Jay, aged 20 months. Wife former Lillian Sudnovsky, age 26 (Born 3/28/1916. Died June 1972, The Bronx, NY, same name, age 56), was not present. "His wife...was placed under a physician's care for shock when her husband was reported missing" (Daily News, New York, NY, 11/30/1942). Was married in 1939, in Brooklyn. Wife was related to but was not a sibling of the above sisters of the same surname. Wife never remarried. Full build (WWII draft registration, October '40: 5' 9," 195 lbs.). Surname was misspelled "Zietsoff" ("i" before "e") in some news accounts and on the final 1943 Boston Committee on Public Safety master list of casualties (correct surname spelling on his death certificate). Parents Mr. and Mrs. Dave and Yerka "Anna" Zeitsoff. Burial at Mount Hebron Cemetery, Glendale (Queens), NY.
