Age 40. 154 Poplar Street, Chelsea, MA. Born 10/12/1902, in Volin, Russia. Died of carbon monoxide poisoning (death certificate). Salesman, Bornstein & Co. (wholesale meats), of Boston. Companion (or companions) if any at the club unknown. His remains were brought from the scene to Waterman's Funeral Home, Boston. To the U.S. in 1911. Was educated at Chelsea High School. Was recently divorced, ex-wife former Anna Burstein, age 33 (Born 5/04/1909. Died as Mrs. Anne Rubinovitz on 3/31/1964, age 54). Married in 1928, in Chelsea. Was living with his wife in Everett, MA, as of 1934 street listings and in Revere, MA, as of '40 street listings (butcher). Was tall and thin as of his December 1926 petition for U.S. naturalization (6' 0," 125 lbs.); same height but his weight was up to 200 lbs. as of his February '42 WWII draft registration. Survived by two children, Kenneth, age 13, and Shirley, age 7. Was the eldest of seven Chelsea victims claimed in the disaster (also patrons Oscar Gerson, age 34, Miss Adaline Goodman, age 22, William Roger Kaufman, age 28, Abraham "Richard" Plager, age 34, Miss Myrna "Minnie" Rubin, age 24, and Bernard Supowitz, age 36). One of five known divorced males to perish (also Harry Asher, age 57, Joseph Ford, age 34, Albert "Avy" Rosenfarb, age 32, and the above Mr. Plager, all patrons). One of 228 fire victims showing "carbon monoxide poisoning" as the primary cause of death on their death certificates, the same count (exact) as those recorded dead from "burns" (eight more related both causes, while an additional 26 gave other origins or stated simply "trapped in burning building"). Parents Mrs. Edas "Edie" (Mendrik), same address, and the late Mr. Samuel D. Weisman. Burial at Fuller Street (Chevra Thilem) Cemetery, Everett. One of 18 casualties buried at Fuller Street Jewish combined cemeteries, resting grounds for more Grove victims than any other single site outside Boston.
