(toy manufacturers), Dover, NH (local office: 151 Hallet Street, Boston). In a cellar Melody Lounge foursome with friend Lawrence "Larry" Taylor, age 39, of Roxbury (Boston), MA, and sisters Rose and Sally Summer, ages 35 and 33 respectively, both single, of Brighton (Boston), MA. All perished. Group attended the stunning afternoon Boston College 55-to-12 football loss to Holy Cross at Fenway Park. Location of their party was revealed in inquest testimony by Suffolk County Assistant District Attorney and patron Garrett Byrne, age 44 (Born 11/29/1897. Died 9/21/1989, in Milton, MA, age 91): "I would say it was about ten minutes of 10 that I...met Larry Taylor...and he told me that he had a party in the Melody Lounge..." (Boston Fire Dept. inquest, 12/04/1942). Was reported as, "...one of the first of the dead to be removed from the ruins" (The Boston Globe, 11/30/1942). One of 60 "probable identifications" inventoried Sunday morning by Boston City Hospital at Southern Mortuary, Boston (all male). Group was misidentified in the 11/30/1942 Boston Daily Record as connected with a large main dining room raised rear terrace party of 29 for cowboy actor Charles "Buck" Jones, age 50, dead. Was a graduate of Malden, MA, High School in 1924. Was single (a younger sister Mollie, age 37, same address, was misreported in the 12/03/1942 Brookline Citizen as his wife). Legal residence was at the Brookline address above. "It was reported, however, that he spent at least half of his time in Dover [NH] where he had living quarters at 25 Grove street" (Manchester Union, Manchester, NH, 11/30/1942). First name was misspelled "Meyer" (with an extra "e") in some news accounts and on the official November 1943 Boston Committee on Public Safety casualties list (correct spelling on his death certificate). Modest presence (WWII draft registration, February, '42: 5' 6," 145 lbs.). The above toy firm (known for its Mickey Mouse and Snow White-themed figures) was later absorbed into a sister business, Keystone Manufacturing Co. (wooden toys and cameras), "Marks" name was dropped to avoid confusion with the better-known toymaker Louis Marx & Co., of New York, NY (of "Rock'em Sock'em Robots" and "Big Wheel" tricycle fame).
