Age 21. 574 Huntington Avenue, Boston. Born on 11/25/1921, in Watertown, MA. Died of carbon monoxide poisoning (death certificate). Clerk, Federal Reserve Bank, Boston ('42 street listings). Attended the club with an unmarried teen friend, Miss Antoinette Powers (Pivorunas), age 19, of Jamaica Plain (Boston), MA, dead. Her remains were transported to Southern Mortuary, Boston. Observed her 21st birthday the past Wednesday. Was raised in Watertown. With her family moved to Newport, RI, upon the death of a paternal grandfather there in 1933. Later returned (with her family) to the Boston area. Was a graduate of Boston Girls High School in 1940. With Miss Powers were two of 147 Grove victims claimed from the city of Boston proper and two of 406 Massachusetts residents lost in the blaze (New York state was next with 15 dead, followed by New Hampshire, nine dead, then Alabama and Pennsylvania, seven dead each). With her companion were two of 116 single female patron victims (also 93 married, 14 engaged and 4 divorced women guests died, a total of 227 female customer casualties). The girls were also two of 464 club guests killed overall in addition to 26 non-patrons (including 17 employees, 6 visiting entertainers, one War Bonds salesgirl, also two outside passing fire rescuers), a total count of 490 dead. Parents Mr. and Mrs. George J. and Viola C. (Sears) Rogers, same address. Father was a shop teacher at the Boston Trade School, in Boston. Burial at St. Columba's Cemetery, Middletown, RI. One of three casualties interred at the above resting grounds (also Lieut. Edward Boylan, age 25, and Lieut. Harry Martin, age 31, both U.S. Army), the most Grove burials at any non-military location outside of Massachusetts (five victims were buried at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA). Middle name Gertrude.
