Age 23. 4 Emerald Street, Wakefield, MA. Born (as Marion Roberto) on 3/04/1919, in Wakefield. Died of burns (death certificate). Proprietor, Mari Jo Beauty Shop, 8 Winter Street, Boston. To the club with her unmarried sister-in-law (and part-time assistant) Miss Josephine Camusi, age 30, of Revere, MA, dead. Her body was located late Sunday night at Northern Mortuary, Boston, by an older brother James (not present), operator of Victor's Shoe Parlor, in Wakefield. "She was burned so badly that her brother could make the identification only through a wrist watch and rings" (Boston Traveler, 11/30/1942). "Both victims had many times requested that in the event of their death, that they be buried at the same time and in the same cemetery" (The Boston Globe, 12/02/1942). Double funeral services with Miss Camusi were held the following Thursday. Boston Traveler, 12/03/1942: "Because of the shortage of hearses two white children's hearses were used to carry the bodies of the young women..." Was single. Family relationship with Miss Camusi was the result of a sibling marriage. Was a lifelong Wakefield resident and lone casualty from the northwest Hub suburb of Wakefield. One of 228 fire victims showing "burns" as the primary cause of death on their death certificates, the same count (exact) as those recorded dead by "carbon monoxide poisoning" (eight others were listed with both causes). Parents Mr. and Mrs. Nicola and Maria "Louise" (Schiavone) Roberto, same address. Burial side-by-side with Miss Camusi at Forest Glade Cemetery, Montrose (Wakefield), MA. The sisters-in-law were two of four Grove fatalities interred in Wakefield (also Miss Shirley Lubell, age 22, and Stéphane Oppenheim, age 26, both patrons) and the only two at the above resting grounds.
