Age 25. 14 Lisbon Street, Providence, RI. Born on 9/28/1917, in Providence. Died 11/29/1942 (Sunday), of carbon monoxide poisoning (death certificate). Nurse at State Street Hospital, Portland, ME (lodged at 439 Congress Street, Portland, ME). Was at the club with her companion Arnold Baer, age 28, of Dover, NH, also perished. Latter was employed at a South Portland, ME, shipyard. Pair came to Boston to witness the season-ending afternoon 55-to-12 football upset by mediocre (4 wins, 4 losses) Holy Cross of nationally top-ranked Boston College at Fenway Park. Her remains were brought to Southern Mortuary, Boston. "Miss Grady, a native of Providence, R.I., had been residing in Portland since 1936" (Portland Press Herald, 11/30/1942). Was a graduate of State Street Hospital of Nursing, Portland, 1939. Was single. Rhode Island address of her parents above was shown on her death certificate and on the final official November 1943 Boston Committee on Public Safety casualties list. Was one of 234 females lost, along with 256 males (the latter includes two outside passing rescue workers), a total of 490 dead. One of 33 persons taken at the age of 25, the most frequent specific age at death among all Grove casualties (followed by ages 22 and 26, with 31 dead each). One of five victims from Rhode Island (also Lieut. Edward Boylan, U.S. Army, age 25, Harold Feingold, age 29, Lieut. Harry Martin, U.S. Army, age 31, and Mrs. Harrilyn "Dolly" Taft, age 21). One of eight casualties interred in the Ocean State (also Miss Muriel Rogers, age 21, Mr. and Mrs. Earl and Aurise Tattrie, ages 31 and 27, plus the above Lieut. Boylan, Mr. Feingold, Lieut. Martin, and Mrs. Taft). Parents Mr. and Mrs. Martin J. and Mary A. (McDonough) Grady. Burial at St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston, RI. Middle name Agatha.
