Age 37. 52 Redlands Road, West Roxbury (Boston), MA. Born on 3/20/1905, in Roslindale (Boston), MA. Died of carbon monoxide poisoning (death certificate). Housewife (death certificate). Attended the club with her married friend, Mrs. Jessie McKee, age 39, also of West Roxbury, dead. Husband John J., age 38 (Born 12/22/1903. Died 10/21/1976, age 72), a well-known area golf professional (based at Blue Hill Country Club, Canton, MA), was to meet his wife and Mrs. McKee, but when he arrived the club was in shambles. "Mrs. Julia Ford...was identified last night among the dead at the southern mortuary..." (The Boston Post, 12/01/1942). "Mrs. Ford was so severely burned that her identification was established only by her teeth" (Parkway Transcript, Roslindale, 12/03/1942). Graduated from Boston Girls High School. Married in 1928. Survived by daughters Marilyn, age 13, and Betty, age 7. A late younger brother, Robert E. J. Donlan, a former Boston policeman, died in April 1941 from injuries incurred in an off-duty horse-riding accident at Franklin Park, Boston. An older brother, Edmond J. Donlan, Jr. (not present), was a current member of the State House of Representatives from West Roxbury (from 1941 to 1946). Women were two of 54 married patrons present to perish without their spouses in attendance. Parents Mr. and Mrs. Edmond, Sr., and Julia J. (Hannon) Donlan. Burial at New Calvary Cemetery, Mattapan (Boston), MA. One of 22 Grove casualties interred at the above cemetery (plus another eight at its attached Mount or "Old" Calvary Cemetery, Roslindale, MA); the combined total of 30 victim burials was more than at any other single location. Widowed husband was buried with his late wife upon his October 1976 death. Middle name Margaret.
