Group had gathered at the Newton, MA, home of Monogram Pictures film executive Mr. Herman Rifkin, age 58 (Born 1/16/1884. Died 1/15/1966, age 81. Last residence Boston), injured, and his wife Pauline, age 56, dead, then motored separately into town to meet at the club entrance about 9:30 p.m. Reported in the 12/01/1942 Fall River Herald News, Fall River, MA, as, "recuperating from shock and severe burns..." The Belmont Citizen, 12/04/1942: "Mrs. St. Pierre was carried out of the building in a critical condition and is at the Boston City Hospital..." The Boston Post, 12/09/1942: "Mrs. Josephine St. Pierre...died Monday after a nine-day fight against the poisonous gases and burns she suffered." A platinum wedding ring with five diamonds, an engagement ring with 13 stones, and a platinum wrist watch were reported by a sister as missing from the body. With her husband was one of four married couples present in the movie group in which both spouses perished (also Mr. and Mrs. Edward and Beatrice Ansin, ages 39 and 37, Mr. and Mrs. Paul and Rhea Baron, both age 35, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles and Anna Stern, ages 56 and 46). Was raised in Wakefield. Married in 1927, in Wakefield. Was a resident with her husband of Belmont for the past 11 years. Her death nine days post-blaze brought the final casualty count of the large film industry gathering to 16, the most lost in any single party. Late parents Mr. and Mrs. Michael and Catherine (Dennehy) Gilligan. Burial with her husband at Belmont Cemetery, Belmont. Middle name Dennehy.
