Age 30. 56 Bates Street, Revere, MA. Born 3/19/1912, in Revere. Died of carbon monoxide poisoning (death certificate). Candy maker, New England Confectionery Co. ("Necco"), of Cambridge, MA. Went to the Grove with an unmarried sister-in-law, Miss Mary Roberto, age 23, of Wakefield, MA, dead. Her remains were located late on Monday at Southern Mortuary in Boston by a brother-in-law. "Identification was made possible by a bracelet and ring..." (Wakefield Daily Item, 12/02/1942). Was a graduate of Revere High School. Was single. Assisted at Mari Jo Beauty Shop, in Boston, owned by Miss Roberto. Family relationship with Miss Roberto was the result of sibling marriage. Wakefield Daily Item, 12/02/1942: "The two young women, who were exceptionally close friends, will be buried in Forest Glade Cemetery, Montrose [Wakefield]." Boston Traveler, 12/03/1942: "Because of the shortage of hearses two white children's hearses were used to carry the bodies of the young women..." One of seven Grove victims from the north shore city of Revere (also Robert Freede, age 51, Max Gorvine, age 44, Miss Pauline Hyman, age 18, club bartender Paul Mikalonis "Mitchell," age 27, Miss Doris Rosenbaum, age 19, and Jacob Schwartz, age 32). One of 234 female fire casualties in addition to 256 men killed (including two male outside passing rescue workers), a total of 490 dead. Above confectionery business known for its iconic multi-colored round "Necco Wafers" and its four-section chocolate "Sky Bar" continued in local operation until a sudden shutdown in July 2018. Parents Mr. and Mrs. Antonio and Antonetta (Colucci) Camusi, same address.
