All were reported in the 11/30/1942 Chelsea Evening Record as having died by suffocation. "He was to have entered the army on Tuesday" (Cambridge Chronicle, 12/03/1942). Included on a Sunday morning list of 60 "probable identifications" compiled by Boston City Hospital at Southern Mortuary (all male), surname spelling shown as "Sciven" [sic]. Was single. Was a graduate of Cambridge High and Latin School in 1929. Former chauffeur for ex-Cambridge mayor John W. Lyons. Surname was spelled "Sideman" on his 1912 birth certificate (possibly incorrect), Seidman all other sources. Modest build (WWII draft registration, October '40: 5' 7," 130 lbs. Obvious physical characteristics: "slightly bald"). Was one of 19 Grove fire victims from the nearby city of Cambridge, tied with Worcester, MA, for the third-most fatalities from any single municipality after Boston proper (147 victims) and Quincy, MA (24 dead). With his companions were four of 464 club guests killed in addition to 26 non-patrons deceased (including 17 employees, 6 visiting entertainers, one War Bonds salesgirl, also two outside passing fire rescuers), a total of 490 dead. Parents Mrs. Lena K. (Kamrash) and the late Mr. Bernard Seidman. Burial at Fuller Street (Temple Beth Shalom) Cemetery, Everett, MA (misreported on his death certificate at non-existent "Beth Israel Cemetery, Cambridge"). Surname was pronounced "SIDE-man."
