Age 51. 69 Academy Avenue, East Weymouth (Weymouth), MA. Born on 7/12/1891, in Boston. Died of carbon monoxide poisoning (death certificate). Superintendent at Diamond Match Co., Roxbury (Boston), MA. With his wife Margaret "Peg," age 48, dead, witnessed the big B.C./Holy Cross football game at Fenway Park in a group hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Ernest, dead, and Marion Bizzozero (Born 1/04/1902. Died 6/18/1988, age 86), survived, both age 40, then attended an evening post-game cocktail party at the Quincy, MA, home of the Bizzozeros. Group of 14 then reunited at the Grove. Were located at combined tables to the right side of the rolling wooden dance floor. Was reported as found dead at the scene, one of nine party victims. His wife died at Cambridge Hospital, Cambridge, MA, the following Monday. Couple had recently celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary (the past Wednesday). One of 60 "probable identifications" inventoried Sunday morning (8:00 a.m.) by Boston City Hospital at Southern Mortuary in Boston (all male). Identity of his remains were confirmed Monday by a longtime acquaintance, Boston Police Sergeant Albert F. Madden (not present), who by chance was assigned to duty at the city morgue (Boston Daily Record, 11/30/1942: "'My God,' gasped Madden, 'he's the best friend I have in the world'"). Married in 1920, in Boston. An only child Vincent died on 2/28/1939, of illness, at age 16. Was one of 20 Grove patron victims aged 50 or older to perish (out of 464 total patron casualties). Parents Mr. and Mrs. James and Mary (Whalen) Carroll. Burial with his wife at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Roslindale (Boston), MA. With his wife were two of 30 casualties interred at Mount Calvary Cemetery (also known as "Old Calvary" or just "Calvary") and its adjoining New Calvary Cemetery, Mattapan (Boston), MA, more than at any other single resting location. Middle name Alloyuis.
