Her remains were identified on Monday afternoon at Northern Mortuary, Boston. Dramatic news article heading in the 12/01/1942 Norwood Messenger: "Death Takes Helen Savage As She Made Wedding Plans." Graduate of Norwood High School, and of Wilfred Academy of Hair & Beauty Culture, of Boston. Was previously employed with her fiancé at Ferne Beauty Shop, in Boston, owned by the mother of Dr. Beckwith. Was shown by her birth surname "Uservitch" in era street listings, popular-usage surname "Savage" in news accounts and on her death certificate. Both surnames were included on the final official November 1943 Boston Committee on Public Safety master casualties list (former misspelled "Uservich," with no "t"). Was a lifetime Norwood resident. One of three Grove victims from the southwest Hub suburb of Norwood (also sisters Hannah and Winifred O'Dea, ages 28 and 24 respectively, both single). With her fiancé were two of 34 persons known engaged to lose their lives (20 male and 14 female). Parents Mr. and Mrs. John and Katie (Borocavitch) Uservitch (a.k.a. Savage), of Norwood.
