Age 21. 895 Central Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. Born on 9/05/1921, in Shrewsbury, MA. Died of burns (death certificate). Hairdresser (death certificate). Known as "Dolly." Was present in a mixed foursome with her married older half-brother Mr. Earl Tattrie, age 31, his wife Aurise, age 27, of Ashland, MA, and Arthur Connelly, age 30, of Auburndale (Newton), MA, all dead. Mr. Connelly was a coworker of Mr. Tattrie in Waltham, MA. Had been visiting at the Tattries' rented Ashland home since Friday evening. "Dolly's body...remained unidentified until late last [Sunday] night" (Framingham News, Framingham, MA, 11/30/1942). Her remains were located at Northern Mortuary, Boston. Husband Sergt. Charles A. Taft, U.S. Army, age 26 (Born 11/05/1916. Died 12/12/2004, age 88), away serving overseas, was not present. Was a graduate of Pawtucket, RI, High School. Pair married earlier in 1942. Was one of 54 married patrons present to perish without their spouse in attendance (at least 49 known other such guests survived). With Mr. Tattrie were the lone half-siblings killed. With her half-brother were two of 228 fire victims showing "burns" as the primary cause of death on their death certificates, another 228 (exact) were recorded dead by "carbon monoxide poisoning" (an additional eight were listed with both causes). Was the youngest of five Ocean State residents lost (also Lieut. Edward Boylan, U.S. Army, age 25, Harold Feingold, age 29, Miss Mary Grady, age 25, and Lieut. Harry Martin, U.S. Army, age 31). Her widowed husband at his December 2004 death was the last-known living husband not present at the club to have lost a spouse, at 62 years, ½ month post-blaze. Unusual first name was misspelled "Harollyn" on her death certificate (spelling misnotated in pencil "O.K.") and on the official November 1943 Boston Committee on Public Safety master list of casualties. Parents Mr. and Mrs. Harry L. and Ruth E. (Chatterton) Kelley, same address. Burial at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Pawtucket, RI. Middle name Ruth.
