Was part of an midday foursome with her younger sister Winifred, age 24, same address, coworker Miss Alice Brady, age 28, of East Walpole, and cousin Miss Katherine "Kay" Holland, age 32, of Dorchester (Boston), MA, all dead. "The...victims had left...Saturday afternoon to attend the Boston College-Holy Cross football game and after the game...went to see the floor show at Cocoanut Grove" (Norwood Messenger, 11/30/1942). The above group was joined at the club by acquaintances Miss Ruth Dwyer, age 26, of Milton, MA, and Miss Nora "Noreen" Sullivan, age 29, of Forest Hills (Boston), MA, both dead, to form an all-girls party of six. The latter two had attended a show elsewhere. Her remains were identified at Northern Mortuary, Boston. Was single. Was a lifelong Norwood resident. With her sister were two of three Grove victims from the Norfolk County Hub suburb of Norwood (also Miss Helen Uservitch "Savage," age 26, a patron). With the others in her party were six of 116 single female customer victims of the disaster (also 93 married, 14 engaged and 4 divorced patron guests died, a total of 227 females guest casualties out of 234 women killed overall). The combined group of six was the largest all-female gathering with no survivors. Parents Mr. Michael J. and the late Mrs. Nora (Healy) O'Dea, same address. Burial with victim sister at Highland Cemetery, Norwood. Middle name Gertrude.
